💧 Water & Sanitation – Denpasar, Indonesia
Since 2006, Como Rotary has partnered with the Rotary Club of Bali Taman to improve access to clean water and sanitation in villages around Denpasar.
What we do:
- Co-fund water source installations in Karangasem and Kintamani districts
- Work through donations and Rotary Global Grants
- Villagers volunteer to install systems themselves — empowering local ownership
Impact:
A lasting partnership with Bali Taman Club, including successful projects like the pump-house at Amertha Bhuana village
First-time access to clean water for many communities
Outdoor toilets replacing unsafe jungle practices — improving health and hygiene
🚚 Timor Containers – Rebuilding Timor-Leste
After the 1999 withdrawal of the Indonesian military, communities in Timor-Leste were left with virtually nothing.
Our response (since 2010):
- Collect and send essentials in 40-foot shipping containers:
- 🧑🏫 School furniture
- 🩺 Medical supplies
- 👕 Clothing
- 📚 Books
- 🛠️ Tools & more
- Raise funds for container purchase and shipping
Result:
We’ve sent 44 containers to help Timor communities rebuild — a powerful example of international Rotary collaboration.
⛺ ShelterBox – Emergency Relief, Worldwide
ShelterBox is a disaster relief charity and a Rotary International project partner.
Each ShelterBox typically includes:
- A high-durability tent
- Water purification tools
- Blankets, cooking supplies, and essential tools
Como Rotary supports ShelterBox through:
- Annual club donations
- Member contributions
- Volunteering at ShelterBox fundraising events
✅ This year, we’ve funded three ShelterBoxes to help families in crisis.
💝 Donations to Other Charities
Throughout the year, Como Rotary also supports other charitable causes.
How it works:
- We welcome presentations from charities at our meetings
- The Board reviews requests and decides where to provide support
